Redding Aquatic Center

“Man is not learned until he can read, write, and swim.”-Plato

Jenny MooreWe are fortunate to live in a community that is surrounded by water. Whether in open water or in a pool, swimming is one of the most important skills that we can learn and we want everyone to learn to enjoy the water. Redding Recreation operates the Redding Aquatic Center, which is a leader in Shasta County within the field of water safety and aquatic injury prevention through its extensive programming, Memorial Day through Labor Day. We are proud to be a one-stop shop for water safety programs. The Redding Aquatic Center serves as the largest authorized provider of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program in Shasta County These programs are specifically designed to meet the water safety needs of children from six months old to adults of one-hundred years old. Its never to late to learn to enjoy the water!

Redding Recreation also takes advantage of our wonderful Whiskeytown Lake through our boating safety program. If you have ever wanted to learn to sail, kayak, or stand up paddle, we have programs for you. Through our partnership with the Redding Yacht Club and scholarship funding from the California State Parks: Division of Boating and Waterways, any child that is interested in boating can have the opportunity to learn to man their own vessel. Redding Recreation is our community’s one-stop shop for being safe in, on and around the water.
